Marshall County Hunting Accident

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a hunting related injury on opening weekend of the firearm’s deer hunt in Minnesota.

According a news release from the Sheriff’s Department, on November 8th, the Marshall County Sheriff received a call that a 25-year-old male had been shot in the upper thigh while hunting by Florian Slough in Marshall County.

The caller stated that the male was alert and conscious, and the bleeding was controlled.

Two brothers were hunting and took a break, laying their guns on the backseat of the vehicle.  The statement went on to say that they put all their hunting gear on top of the firearms.  They were removing their feat from the vehicle to go hunting again, when the firearm went off and shot the unidentified male through the upper thigh.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Karlstad Ambulance, and Newfolden Rescue responded to the scene.   The man was transported by ambulance to Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls for treatment.
