Mary Ann Mayhew

Mary Ann Mayhew, age 91 of Morris, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at West Wind Village in Morris, MN, just six days after celebrating her 91st birthday.

Visitation for Mary Ann Mayhew will be held Monday, April 21, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, MN.

Memorial services for Mary Ann Mayhew will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, MN, with Minister Minette Stalheim Johnson officiating.

Burial will take place on a later date in Mt. Hawley Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois.

Mary Ann Armbruster was born on April 9, 1934, in Fairbury, Illinois, to George and Anna (Rieger) Armbruster. She spent her early years in Fairbury before her family relocated to Peoria, where she graduated from Peoria High School. She was baptized at Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church on April 10, 1960.

Mary Ann began a long and successful career with Illinois Bell, where she worked for 35 years and retired in a supervisory position. On May 10, 1980, she married Donald Dean Mayhew, and they made their home in Peoria until his passing. Following Don’s passing, Mary Ann moved to Morris, Minnesota, to be closer to her sister and extended family.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta, Minnesota. She participated in various social groups over the years, including the Red Hat Society and the Ladies of Line Drive. Mary Ann enjoyed baking, quilting, cross stitching, and listening to country western music. A dedicated reader, she was particularly interested in history, crafts, and popular culture. She was also an enthusiastic sports fan who enjoyed attending basketball games and following the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and college Kansas Jayhawks basketball.

She is survived by her brother-in-law: Bill Ritson; nieces: Sue (Mike) Bruer and Beth (Joe) Beranek; nephew: Doug (Eric) Ritson; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Don; her parents: George and Anna; and her sister: Doris Ritson.
