Mavor Lee Barnett

Mavor Lee Barnett, age 90, of Kilkenny, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at her home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Visitation will continue Thursday, May 9 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Father Tom Niehaus officiating. Interment will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery in rural Montgomery.

 

Mavor was born on December 20, 1933, in McCool Junction, Nebraska. She was a graduate of Le Center High School. Mavor was united in marriage to Robert M. Barnett at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny on June 11, 1952 – they enjoyed over 71 years of marriage together.  Mavor was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She loved to be active and social, she was a volunteer member of a several women’s groups that met to do community service work, social activities, and field trips. Mavor loved to play any kind of cards and was in several card groups.  She was an excellent cook and an avid vegetable and flower gardener.  She loved to harvest the garden, canning and preserving the fruits of her labor for everyone to enjoy. Her family and deep Catholic faith have always been a priority in her life.

 

Mavor is survived by her children, Carrie (Mike) Caskey of Holland, JoAnne (Bill) Parks of Prescott, Tim Barnett of New Prague, Laurie Lundeen of Long Beach, MS., Mark (Michelle) Barnett of Kilkenny, Julie (Ron) Dorshak of New Prague, Dan Barnett (Melinda Brown) of Kilkenny, Kevin (Keri) Barnett of Kilkenny, Al Barnett of Kilkenny, Pete (Bridget) Barnett of New Prague, and Ryan (Chantel) Barnett of Montgomery; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marlene Buck of Cornville, AZ.

 

Mavor is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, Edwin and Alice Otoupal; son, Joseph Barnett; grandson, Justin Caskey, brothers-in-law Bill Barnett and Wally Buck, sister-in-law, Jan Barnett, nephews Joey Gunville, Mike Barnett, and Patrick Buck.
