Mayor Kevin Wohlers Proclaims May ‘Arbor Month’ in Morris

It’s May 1st, and Morris Mayor Kevin Wohlers has proclaimed May 2025 to be Arbor Month in the City of Morris. The Mayor’s Proclamation urges all citizens to help care for our trees and to try to plant at least one tree in 2025 to beautify the city, improve the environment, and promote the well-being of present and future generations. The City’s annual tree planting will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 in Pomme de Terre Park.

In addition, the City will be giving away 100 trees, one tree per property, on a first come-first served basis May 16 and 17. There will be 12 varieties to choose from. The free tree must be planted on private property and within the Morris city limits. Hours for pickup will be 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 16 and 8 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, May 17 at the Morris City Shop on County Road 22, across from the Stevens County Fairgrounds.
