McDaniels, Reid lead Edwards-less Timberwolves past Trail Blazers, 114-98
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Jaden McDaniels delivered an impressive performance with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, while Naz Reid came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of his 23 points, helping the shorthanded Minnesota Timberwolves rally from a 15-point deficit to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 114-98 on Saturday night.
The Timberwolves were without All-Star guard Anthony Edwards, who sat out due to right hip soreness, marking his second absence of the season. Minnesota also played without Mike Conley (right index sprain), Julius Randle (right groin strain), and Donte DiVincenzo (left big toe sprain).
Reid’s clutch shooting included three critical 3-pointers, powering the Timberwolves to their third consecutive win. The victory improved their record to 8-2 in their last 10 games. To top off the night, fans were treated to a special bobblehead giveaway featuring Reid.
Portland was led by Anfernee Simons, who scored 21 points, while Jerami Grant and Shaedon Sharpe contributed 14 points each. Despite the loss, the Trail Blazers had been on a six-game winning streak.
Rob Dillingham, the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, made his first career start at point guard for Portland, finishing with eight points on 4-of-12 shooting (0-for-4 from three) and six assists.
Both teams will return to action on Monday night, with the Trail Blazers facing Denver and the Timberwolves traveling to Cleveland.
