Melodi Jean (Janke) Johansen

Melodi Jean (Janke) Johansen, age 67 of Ryder, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024, at her residence.

Melodi was born in the Wheaton Community Hospital on October 16, 1956 to Myron and Rosemary (West) Janke. She spent her childhood at the family farm in rural Wheaton. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Taylor Township. She attended Wheaton High School. After graduation she attended Grand Forks Community College and studied interior design.

She married Craig Johansen in 1982 and lived in rural Ryder, ND. She worked at Sears and the Amish Gallery in Minot, ND.

Melodi is survived by her mother: Rosemary Janke of Wheaton, MN; brother: Lowell Janke of Mesa, Arizona; niece: Nicolette (Adam) Morrison of Minneapolis, MN; nephews: Taylor and Trevor Janke both of Stewart, MN; great-nephews: Jace Janke and Enzo Morrison; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Melodi was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Clifford and Jessie West; paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Hess; father: Myron Janke; brother: Warren Janke; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
