Minnesota Dominates No. 25 Nebraska with Record-Breaking Defensive Performance

Darius Taylor rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown, and quarterback Drake Lindsey went 16-for-20 with 153 yards and a score as Minnesota rolled past No. 25 Nebraska, 24-6, on Friday night.

The Golden Gophers (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) extended their winning streak over the Cornhuskers (5-2, 2-2) to six straight games. Nebraska, aiming for its first pair of consecutive road wins in a season since 2006, couldn’t overcome a relentless Minnesota defense that sacked quarterback Dylan Raiola nine times—a new single-game school record.

Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck improved to 7-1 all-time against Nebraska, which hasn’t won in Minneapolis since 2015.

“Nine sacks—I love that,” Fleck said. “That’s a complete defensive effort. Everyone doing their job exactly when it mattered most.”

Despite throwing for 177 yards on 17-of-25 passing, Raiola and the Huskers struggled to find the end zone. Nebraska also faced distractions throughout the week, as speculation swirled about head coach Matt Rhule possibly being a candidate for the open head coaching job at Penn State.
