MINNESOTA RESIDENTS WARNED OF FAKE TAX SCAM

The Minnesota Department of Revenue is warning residents about scam text messages that appear to come from the department.  These texts claim you’re owed a refund and ask you to click a link to update your banking information.  But don’t be fooled, these messages are not from the Department of Revenue.  Officials say their systems and taxpayer data are secure.  If you get one of these texts, don’t click the link.  Instead, report is as junk or spam, delete it and if you did share any personal information, contact your bank right away.  The Minnesota Department of Revenue will never send unsolicited messages asking you to update your personal or financial information.
