Minnesota River Road Closures due to High Water & Flooding
Several recent storm events over the last 3-4 weeks are causing high waters on the Minnesota River.
The following roads are closed due to flooding from the recent storm events:
• Chippewa County Road 13 (Churchill Dam) and Lac qui Parle County Road 33 are closed due to highwater and flooding.
In coordination with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and based on their current estimates for discharge at the Watson Dam, Chippewa County officials anticipate closing the following Minnesota River Crossings today (7/2):
• Chippewa County Road 14 and Lac qui Parle County Road 33 will close due to high water and flooding.
• Chippewa County Road 15 and Lac qui Parle County Road 18 will close due to high water and flooding. Note: LQP County Road 18 is currently under construction and is closed to local traffic only.
With these road closures, the only way to cross the Minnesota River between Lac qui Parle County and Chippewa County will be via MN 40 west of Milan and US 59/212 in Montevideo.
