MINNESOTA SEEING ACTIVE TORNADO SEASON
It’s been a busy season so far for emergency managers and storm chasers across Minnesota. The State Minnesota Climatology Office says the preliminary tornado count through the end of June stands at 48 – already surpassing the state’s average of 46 tornadoes for an entire season. June is typically the most active month for tornadoes in Minnesota averaging 14 a year, followed by July with 12 and August with 6. Minnesota’s worst tornado season between 1950 and 2020 was in 2010 when the state recorded 113 tornadoes.
