Missing Carver County Man Found in Canada River

(Learfield News/Ontario, Canada) — A missing Carver County man may have drowned while trying to cross into Canada by a river.

International Falls police reported 59-year-old Michael Tjosaas of Mayer as missing in late December.

His car was found in Koochiching County two weeks later, along with a kayak purchase, but no kayak was found.

Ontario Provincial Police say they found Tjosaas’ body in the Rainy River on April 16th near Emo in Ontario, Canada.

Officials believe foul play is not suspected and that he drowned.
