Morris Area Schools announces Inaugural Induction to the Hall of Fame

Morris, MN – Morris Area Schools is proud to announce the inaugural induction ceremony for the Tiger Hall of Fame, set to take place on Saturday, October 5th at 2 PM.

This momentous event will recognize and honor the outstanding achievements and contributions of five remarkable individuals and one exceptional team.

The inaugural inductees for the Tiger Hall of Fame class of 2024 are:

● Mary Holmberg: A trailblazer in softball, Mary Holmberg’s outstanding career at Morris Area is leaving an indelible mark. Her dedication and performance set the standard for excellence and inspired countless others to follow in her footsteps. She is a true embodiment of what it means to be a Tiger.
● Al Hendrickson (posthumously): A beloved coach and mentor, Al Hendrickson’s legacy endures through the many athletes he guided to success. His impact on the Tiger wrestling community was profound, and his leadership and vision were instrumental in shaping the school’s athletic program. We honor his memory and celebrate his posthumous induction.
● DeeDee Wevley: Known for her remarkable accomplishments in volleyball, basketball, track and field, and softball, DeeDee Wevley demonstrated unparalleled skill and determination. Her achievements have become the benchmark for future athletes, and her influence extends beyond the field, inspiring young athletes to strive for greatness.
● Ryan Lussenden: A standout athlete, Ryan Lussenden’s prowess in swimming earned him numerous accolades and awards. His commitment to excellence and sportsmanship made him a respected figure among his peers, and his induction into the Tiger Hall of Fame is a testament to his significant contributions to Morris Area.
● Mel Hottovy: A dedicated and respected superfan. Mel Hottovy’s passion for all Tiger activities and his attendance at games for decades make him a cornerstone of the Tiger community. His induction into the Hall of Fame recognizes his support of Tiger athletics since the 60s.
● 1998 Boys Track Team: The 1998 Boys Track Team achieved historic success, breaking records and bringing home the first state championship in school history. Their teamwork, discipline, and relentless pursuit of victory are emblematic of the Tiger spirit. This induction honors the collective effort and camaraderie that made their achievements possible.

The induction ceremony will be held at Morris Area School during homecoming week on Saturday, October 5th at 2 PM.

All community members, alumni, and sports enthusiasts are invited to join in celebrating these outstanding individuals and the 1998 Boys Track Team as they take their place in the inaugural Tiger Hall of Fame class.
