Empowering Communities, Celebrating Minnesota Locally

NCAA Mens Hockey Tournament opens tomorrow

(Fargo, ND) — The University of Minnesota men’s hockey team is in Fargo for the start of tomorrow’s N-C-A-A Tournament. The 25-10-and-4 Golden Gophers lock up with U-Mass in an opening round game tomorrow night at Scheels Arena at 7:30 P-M. The Minutemen are 20-13-and-5 on the season. Both teams could be a bit rusty, as Minnesota has not played a game since losing to Notre Dame on March 9th and U-Mass has not played in a game since a loss to Boston College on March 15th. Gopher forward Connor Kurth says they scrimmaged a couple of times and “got after it” to try to stay sharp during the time off between games. The winner of tomorrow’s first-round game will play on Saturday against the winner of tomorrow’s other game between Minnesota State-Mankato and Western Michigan.
