New Nicollet County Sheriff

Come the first of the year, Nicollet County will have a new sheriff.

At Tuesday’s County Board meeting, the Board passed a resolution appointing Aaron Petersen as Nicollet County Sheriff, effective December 31.

Chief Deputy Petersen has been with the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office since 2004 and has been a licensed peace officer since 2006.

He has served in the roles of jailer, dispatcher, deputy, investigator, and, most recently, as Chief Deputy.

He’ll be replacing Sheriff Dave Lange.

Sheriff Lange is retiring after serving 29 years with the sheriff’s office.
