NEW SNAP APPLICATIONS HALTED

Minnesota is halting new food assistance applications, another direct hit from the federal government shutdown.  As of 10 pm Wednesday, counties stopped approving new SNAP applications.  The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families says federal funding is drying up and November benefits may not be paid without congressional action.  SNAP supports 450,000 Minnesotans, many of them children and working families.
