Arrests made following a police chase in Grand Forks

A man and two juveniles led deputies on a chase in Grand Forks early Friday.

According to the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office, the chase started just after 12:30am when a deputy clocked a vehicle going 83 miles per hour on South Washington Street. The deputy began a pursuit with his lights and siren on, however the vehicle continued into a residential neighborhood.

The driver eventually stopped in an alley where deputies detained the driver, 21-year-old Elijah Belgarde of Grand Forks, and a boy. Another juvenile fled, but was eventually caught.

Belgarde was arrested for fleeing, reckless endangerment, giving false information to an officer, driving under suspension, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was also cited for driving 83 in a 35 mile per hour zone.

The juvenile was arrested for refusing to halt and taken to juvenile detention.
