Niemeyer to take part in Catastrophic Cooking Competition

KDUZ/KARP/KGLB’s own resident Sportsguy and Outdoorsman, Joel Niemeyer, has been selected to participate in the 2026 Catastrophic Cooking Competition at the upcoming “Big Little Hunting and Fishing Expo”.  The event will be held on March 21st at the Mcleod County Fairgrounds in Hutchinson.  The expo runs all day, with hours from 9a-3p…but the Catastrophic Cooking Competition is set to get underway around 11:45 am.  The three competitors for the Competition are:

-Joel Niemeyer, KDUZ/KARP/KGLB Radio
-Valerie Mackenthun, Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce
-Pat Geiken, Retired Mcleod County Sheriff’s Deputy and current DARE Officer for Hutchinson Schools…and DEFENDING CHAMPION.

Each of the 3 will be tasked with making/cooking a dish for the judges.  Audience members in attendance will get the opportunity to bid on “Whammy’s” (shall we call them?) that will be given to one of the three competitors and they will have to incorporate into their dish or their preparation of the dish.  At the end of a timed round the judges will taste the food and name a winner.

The Big Little Hunting and Fishing Expo is put on by the Christian Deer Hunters Association.  More infomation on the Expo can be found here.
