NO CHARGES TO BE FILED IN FATAL YELLOW MEDICINE COUNTY FIRETRUCK CRASH

The Yellow Medicine County Attorney’s Office is not going to file charges in the fatal firetruck crash that killed a Wood Lake firefighter.  43-year-old Patrick Remiger died in the crash near Cottonwood September 27.  The county attorney said he made the decision after reviewing all of the evidence in the crash which showed at the driver, 37-year-old Andrew Vanhecke of Wood Lake “took his eyes off the road momentarily, causing the fire truck to drift onto the shoulder, he overcorrected and given the water weight in the truck, caused the truck to lose control.”
