No Death Penalty Decision Yet in Boelter Case
(Learfield News/Minneapolis, MN) — Federal prosecutors say no decision has been made yet on whether to pursue the death penalty for the man accused of assassinating a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband, and shooting a state senator and his wife.
Vance Luther Boelter is charged with killing Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, last June.
He’s also accused of wounding State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, in a related attack the same day.
The choice on whether to seek the death penalty rests with U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.
The issue is expected to be discussed again at a status hearing on April 17th.
Boelter has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
