NO ONE HURT IN TRAIN VS SEMI NEAR HECTOR
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was called to a crash between a semi trailer and a train at a railroad crossing on Renville County Road 16 north of Highway 212 in Melville Township two miles west of Hector. The sheriff’s Office was called shortly before 1 pm and found a Freightliner semi driven by 41-year-old Andrew Hanson of Atwater was southbound on County Road 16, failed to stop at the stop sign and did not yield to the train which struck the trailer of the semi. The trailer was carrying soybeans and sustained significant damage and its contents spilled onto the roadway. The train was not loaded and the ending was damaged. The sheriff’s office reminds motorists to use caution when approaching train tracks and obey all signs. No one was hurt. Hector fire, ambulance and police and the state patrol assisted at the scene.
