One dead in shooting near Red Lake

The Red Lake Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating a shooting that occurred on June 20.
According to a news release from Red Lake, authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred in the Heart Lake area, which is east of the town of Red Lake.

Officers were dispatched to the location at 7:15pm on June 20, 2025 and located an adult male, with a fatal gunshot wound, on the ground outside the residence.

After and extensive search by officers, with the assistance by concerned citizens and an independent drone operator, a male subject was located hiding in a heavily wooded area west of the shooting incident. He was take into custody and transported to the Red Lake Detention Center.

No names have been released.
