PEDESTRIAN KILLED BY TRAIN IN LITCHFIELD

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a pedestrian was struck a killed by a train near Litchfield early Monday morning.  Authorities say they received a call at 12:37 am of a pedestrian being hit by a train at the crossing at Meeker County Road 1 on the east side of Litchfield.  Deputies responded and found the victim identified as 35-year-old Raina Mathews of Cosmos deceased.  Deputies say the train was westbound and Mathews was walking on the tracks when she was hit.  BNSF police, Litchfield police and rescue, the state patrol and the DNR assisted at the scene.
