Pohlads to keep Twins, On the field beat the Yankees

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — Minnesota Twins fans will have to endure the Pohlad family for longer than expected. The club’s owners reneged on last year’s pledge to sell the team in a statement posted on social media yesterday. The Pohlads said that they will instead bring in two minority owners, keeping the controlling stake of the Twins.

The Minnesota Twins avoided being swept by the New York Yankees by earning a 4-1 win from the Bronx. The game was tied at one before Minnesota plated three runs in the top of the sixth. Kody Clemens had a go-ahead, two-run double during the frame to put the Twins up for good. Minnesota all-star Joe Ryan earned his 12th win after striking out seven and holding New York to one run on four hits in six-and-two-thirds innings. Minnesota is in fourth place in the AL Central at 57-63. Bailey Ober starts for the Twins against Detroit tonight at Target Field.
