POWER OUTAGE ON SOUTH SIDE OF NEW ULM
A substation breaker was tripped and caused a power outage on the south side of New Ulm around 2:30 Thursday afternoon. Properties from at least 7th South Street to Kraft on Bridge Street. Utilities officials confirm it was a tripped breaker on the south side substation and say that situation is rare. The equipment was inspected and the breaker was reset. Utilities are investigating the possibility of a mechanical failure because the breakers are designed to trip if there is a problem with the system. Officials say that does not appear to be the case at this time. Power was out for about 15 minutes.
