Reid scores 23 as Wolves pull away in fourth to beat 76ers 126-112

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Anthony Edwards scored 18 points, while Naz Reid led the way with 23 as the Minnesota Timberwolves pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat the short-handed Philadelphia 76ers 126-112 on Tuesday night.

Julius Randle, playing in just his second game back after a 13-game absence due to a groin strain, contributed 16 points for Minnesota. Nickeil Alexander-Walker provided a spark off the bench, adding 20 points. The Timberwolves took control early in the fourth quarter with a dominant 25-9 run.

Paul George returned to action for the Sixers after sitting out one game with groin soreness, but Philadelphia was missing key pieces. Star guard Tyrese Maxey sat out with a lower back strain, and the team continued to adjust after announcing that Joel Embiid would miss the remainder of the season due to left knee injury management. George struggled offensively, finishing with just seven points on 3-of-11 shooting.

Despite the loss, Quentin Grimes shined for the 76ers, leading all scorers with 30 points. Kelly Oubre Jr. added 24, but Philadelphia—playing the second game of a back-to-back after falling to Portland the night before—dropped its 13th game in the last 15 contests.

Grimes has been a bright spot for the Sixers since arriving from Dallas, posting a career-high 44 points two games earlier and setting a personal best with nine assists against Portland. He also recorded his second 20-point half in three games.

While Minnesota didn’t deliver its cleanest performance against a depleted opponent, the win was crucial. The Timberwolves entered the night tied with the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings for seventh place in the Western Conference standings.

A potential momentum-shifting moment came at the end of the third quarter when Mike Conley drained a half-court buzzer-beater. Alexander-Walker then opened the fourth with a three-pointer, helping fuel Minnesota’s decisive run.

Despite committing 19 turnovers—leading to 21 points for Philadelphia—the Timberwolves took care of the ball when it mattered most, avoiding any giveaways in the fourth quarter until the final 48 seconds.
