Renville County Auditor/Treasurer Pleaded Guilty to Theft

Former Renville County Auditor/Treasurer Lisa Meints of Olivia was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty in December to a charge of theft. Judge Keith Helgeson sentenced the 37-year-old Meints to three years supervised probation and ordered her to perform 500 hours of community service. She must also apologize to the Olivia Outback Team — the local chapter of the Just For Kix  dance group — and pay restitution for the money she stole. Meints was in charge of an account made up of donations to the children’s dance team to send them to perform at bowl games. She was accused of taking about $5000 from the account and transferring it to her personal account from May through December of 2023.

Meints was appointed Renville County’s first Auditor/Treasurer in January 2023, and resigned February 8th 2024.
