Ring in the New Year at the Cokato Museum

The Cokato Historical Society is inviting residents to ring in the new year as they celebrate thier 25th Annual New Year’s Open House on Sunday (January 5).

The open house is from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Cokato Museum Centennial Room (Broadway entrance) at 175 4th Street SW in Cokato.

The celebration features the annual demonstration of the Finnish New Year custom of “melting tin,” where you can discover what your upcoming year will bring.

Officials say tin is provided for the event, but if you wish to keep your tin after the demonstration you will need to purchase it. It is also acceptable to bring in tin from previous years to be recast.

The event is free and open to the public.
