Robert (Bob) Nicholas Haggenmiller
Robert (Bob) Nicholas Haggenmiller, age 86, passed away on Sunday, March 3 at Ridgeview Medical Center in LeSueur with his family by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 7 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in LeSueur at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Chris Shofner presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the Mass on Friday morning at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur.
Bob was born on October 25, 1938 to Nicholas and Margaret (Harens) Haggenmiller in a little house in Tyrone Township. He attended country school and then Arlington High School and graduated with the class of 1957. Bob was proud to serve in the United States Army from 1957-1960 and stationed in Germany for two and a half years.
Bob was united in marriage to Sharon Ruschmeyer on May 23, 1965 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe, MN. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Lori & Susan. In 1973, Bob and Sharon moved from Glencoe to a small, 40 acre hobby farm west of Henderson. Bob worked at Fremont Industries in Shakopee for over 50 years as a plant manager, retiring in 2016. He was at work by 4:30 a.m. to unlock the doors, make coffee, and do his paperwork before anyone else arrived. After work, he would come home and tend to his farm. Bob farmed until 2022, when his health began to decline. Bob did custom combining for many area farmers and, in his younger years, was a bartender at various establishments in both Arlington and Henderson.
Above all, Bob was most proud of his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides farming, Bob enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and spending time at the cabin at Lake Washington, playing Sheepshead, family gatherings, watching NASCAR, and tending to his lawn and garden. He was a member of the Minnesota Plowing Association, where he won several state and national plowing competitions in the Small Plow class using a borrowed Oliver 77 tractor and a John Deere two bottom plow. He was a founding member of the Henderson Investors Club, and looked forward to “Thirsty Thursday’s” with Myron Nagel and Vi Kroehler.
Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Henderson where he was a greeter and usher. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sharon; daughters Lori (Mike) Penas of Hutchinson, Susan Busse (Mark Johnson) of LeSueur; grandchildren Francis Penas of Mooresville, NC, Paytyn Busse (Will Walter) of LeSueur, Mary (Joey) Hruby and Allie Busse-Efta of LeCenter; bonus grandchildren Mason and Conner Johnson; and great grandchildren Adalynn Hruby and Maizie Busse-Efta.
Bob is also survived by sisters and brothers Betty Kaveney of St. Peter, Bill (Maggie) Haggenmiller and Joan Budahn of Arlington, and Joe Haggenmiller (Kay Peik) of Hutchinson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Myron (Sue) Ruschmeyer of Glencoe, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Margaret Haggenmiller, father-in-law and mother- in-law Stanley and Iola Ruschmeyer, brother-in-laws Wayne Kaveney and Earl Budahn, and son-in-law Terry Busse.
