Rosemary “Rosie” Torgusen, age 69 of Elbow Lake, Minnesota, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.
Visitation for Rosie Torgusen will be held Friday, February 28, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Elbow Lake, MN.
Memorial Mass for Rosemary Evelyn Torgusen will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Elbow Lake, MN.
Spring Interment in St. Loretto’s Catholic Cemetery by Elbow Lake, MN.
Rosemary Evelyn Torgusen was born on October 26, 1955, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Math and Elsie (Weichmann) Notch. She was baptized in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa, Minnesota. She attended grade school at the Elrosa Catholic School and graduated from the Brooten High School in 1974. She furthered her education at St. Cloud Tech School in Commercial Cooking and later attended the Alexandria Technical School earning a Dietary management degree in 2004.
On October 29, 1979, Rosie and Richard Torgusen were united in marriage at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, Minnesota. She was employed at Sunwood Inn and Country Kitchen in Morris. They moved to Beardsley and she worked at Valley High Supper Club and Carlson Corner Truck Stop, then at the Grace Home in Graceville. Rosie became a dietary manager at the Wilmot Nursing Home in Wilmot, SD, and then became the dietary manager at the Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, SD. In 2008, they moved to Elbow Lake where she worked at the Good Samaritan Home in Hoffman, Barrett Care Center, Mill Street Manor in Fergus Falls, then at Prairie Ridge Hospital, Maplewood Manor before starting as a foster grandparent with the Elbow Lake North Elementary School. Rosie and Richard enjoyed many trips traveling on tour buses. She was involved with Study Club in Elbow Lake, Bible study at church, and especially enjoyed Richard’s fishing catches, with her favorite being sunfish.
She is survived by her husband: Richard; two sons: Daniel Torgusen and Erik Torgusen both of South Carolina; brother: Norbert Notch of Sauk Centre, MN; special nieces and nephews: Tammy, Matt, and Mark Notch and Karen Johnson; and also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Richard Notch; sister: Ruth Wolters; and sister-in-law: Carlin Notch.
