Secure Your Cell Phone
Officials with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources are recommending tethering cell phones while ice fishing.
Conservation officer Coby Fontes in Warroad monitored angling activity on Lake of the Woods over the weekend. He notes an unusual uptick in the number of phones that people have reportedly dropped into the lake. He says one of these instances occurred in his presence while someone was attempting to conceal use of an extra line. Fontes says tethers are always a good idea to prevent phones from becoming fish habitat.
He says enforcement action was taken last week for use of an extra line, use of unattended lines, overlimit of walleyes, and possession of dressed fillets.
