Semi/Train Crash in Renville County

Nobody was injured when a train crashed into a semi-tractor trailer in Renville County Monday afternoon, about 2 miles west of Hector.

The Sheriff’s Office says at just before 1pm, a semi, driven by 41-year-old Andrew Hanson of Atwater, was traveling south on County Road 16 and apparently failed to stop at the stop sign and did not yield to the train before entering the crossing. The train then hit the trailer, causing the load of soybeans to spill onto the roadway.

Authorities say the train was not loaded and sustained some damage to the locomotive.
