SEVERAL AREA HIGHWAYS CLOSED DUE TO ICY CONDITIONS

A number of area highways are reportedly closed due to very icy conditions.  MnDOT says Highway 19 between Highways 5 and 93 are closed, Highway 212 from Glencoe to Olivia is closed.  MnDOT advises no travel on Highways 19 from Gaylord to Highway 212 four miles north of New Auburn and Highway 19 from Gaylord to Highway 212 to six miles east of Green Isle.  Highway 19 between Highways 4 and 5 near Fairfax, and Highway 19 between Gaylord and a mile east of the New Prague area.  Numerous semis are reported in ditches around the area and MnDOT is advising you that if you don’t have to travel, don’t.  If you do, use extreme caution.  A winter weather advisory is in effect until 8 am this (Monday) morning.  A number of schools are staring two hours late this (Monday) morning as well.  Check the latest announcements on the “Postponements and Cancellations” page on the left side of the page.
