OLIVIA STANDOFF ENDS PEACEFULLY

Olivia Police were called to an incident on the 600 block of East Maple Avenue Wednesday afternoon at 12:42 pm after dispatch received a call from a 22-year-old male reporting he had been chased by a 26-year-old male with a knife.  The suspect retreated into a home on East Maple Avenue.  Multiple agencies including The Renville County Sheriff’s Office, the Brown Lyon Redwood Renville Emergency Response Team, the state patrol and the Olivia ambulance  were called to ensure public safety.  Negotiators were deployed to engage with the suspect and around 3:30 pm, the suspect left the home and was taken into custody without incident.  Police say the investigation is ongoing and more details will be released when they become available.
