Sibley County Sheriff Not Seeking Re-election

Sibley County Sheriff Patrick Nienaber has announced he will not seek re-election after his current term ends this year.

He has spent 37 years in law enforcement including the past 32 years in Sibley County.

In a statement, Nienaber said he thanks the citizens for their support and can take pride and comfort in the fact that Sibley County is one of the safest places to live.

The Minnesota Secretary of State website says the filing period for county offices is May 19 to June 2.

The newly elected sheriff will start their duties on January 4, 2027.
