side-by-side pulling a fish house broke through the ice
The Big Stone County Sheriff’s Office says three men were on a side-by-side pulling a fish house when they drove over an ice heave and broke through the ice near rustling elms resort just after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2nd on Big Stone Lake north of Ortonville, MN.
The three men were able to evacuate the vehicle before it became fully submerged. They were wet and cold, but were able to get to a nearby residence for help. The fish house became partially submerged.
The sheriff’s office says removing the side-by-side and fish house is expected to take a few days.
The Sheriffs Office would like to remind everyone that no ice is ever 100% safe and people should avoid crossing heaves.
