Slain Mpls Police Officer Mitchell Honored on U.S. House Floor

(Learfield News/Washington, DC) — There was a moment of silence on the U-S House floor Monday to honor of fallen Minneapolis Police Officer Jamal Mitchell .

Fifth District Congresswoman Ilhan Omar told members, “Officer Mitchell died as a hero and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his partner, mother, stepfather, siblings, and children. ”

She said Officer Mitchell will be remembered for his compassion, bravery, and love of people.

All of Minnesota’s House members stood alongside Omar during her remarks.
