SLEEPY EYE GETS AARP COMMUNITY CHALLENGE GRANT

The city of Sleepy Eye has been selected to receive a 2025 AARP Community Challenge grant for $15,000.  EDA Director Kurk Kramer says the grant will be used for downtown revitalization including much-needed work around the Chief Sleepy Eye Monument.  Kramer says there will also be additional seating added and trash receptacles along the walking area from downtown, the museum and the city will also pursue a military mural on the building wall on the east side of Veterans’ Park. Kramer says the work should be done this year.  Sleepy Eye was one of only around 4 or 5 cities in Minnesota to receive the grant and only 383 grantees were accepted nationwide out of over 3400 applications.
