SLEEPY EYE POLICE RECOGNIZED BY MAPLEWOOD CHIEF
Maplewood Police Chief Brian Bierdman sent a letter to the Sleepy Eye Police Department thanking them for assistance in a criminal vehicular homicide investigation. Sleepy Eye Chief Matt Andres, investigator Shawn Bohnen and officer Amber Meyer were recognized for locating a suspect vehicle, maintaining surveillance and ensuring scene security. The suspect, 46-year-old Jose Hernandez Pineda is accused of fatally striking a 31-year-old man in Maplewood and then driving the van to Sleepy Eye where he was working on a roofing project. He faces two counts of criminal vehicular homicide in Ramsey County. His bail has been set at $1-million.
