Smoker Blamed For Winger Garage Fire

No injuries reported following a garage fire in Winger believed to be caused by a smoker that was left on overnight. 

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the fire caused substantial damage to the garage and had spread to a nearby tree, however the fire was contained to the garage area. There was no damage to the family’s home. 

The fire was believed to have originated from an electric meat smoker that was running overnight. The family was present during the time of the fire though no injuries were reported. 

Winger Fire Department and Polk County EMS responded to the residence at around 5:30am Saturday.
