SPECIAL SESSION NOT UNTIL NEXT WEEK AT THE EARLIEST

State lawmakers were hoping the governor could call a special session by this week but it appears that won’t happen.  The lawmakers’ working groups continue finalizing their budget bills..  Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy calls the work slow and steady.  Realistically, Murphy says the earliest a special session could be called is the middle of next week.  The deadline to avoid a government shutdown is June 30.
