Spring Training Starts in Three Weeks
The Minnesota Twins are gearing up for spring training, which opens three weeks from today in Fort Myers. Catcher Ryan Jeffers says he is excited about the vibe that new manager Derek Shelton is giving off and that the locker room should be a good one this season. Jeffers says he’d like to get back to hitting over 20 home runs this season while also continuing to increase his on-base percentage, which he did last year. The annual TwinsFest is slated to start tomorrow and run through Saturday at Target Field. Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to spring training on February 12th in Fort Myers with position players mandated to report by February 16th. The Twins have an exhibition against the University of Minnesota on Friday, February 20th and open Grapefruit League play against Boston on Saturday, February 21st. The regular season begins at Baltimore on March 26th. The Minnesota home opener comes against Tampa Bay on April 3rd at Target Field in Minneapolis.
