SPRINGFIELD NATIVE LANIER NEW BROWN COUNTY ASSESSOR

A Springfield native is the new Brown County Assessor.  Sarah Lanier took the oath of Office at the county board meeting Tuesday.  She worked as a Cottonwood County Deputy Assessor from July 2024 to this past August and deputy assessor since then.  County assessors determine the value of properties within their jurisdiction for tax purposes, prepare and maintain property tax rolls and keep records of property ownership, characteristics and changes which are accessible to the public.  Lanier has been an Accredited Minnesota Assessor since July 2024 and a Certified Minnesota Assessor since October 2021.
