St. Thomas Splits Against The Jackrabbits

(Brookings, SD/Minnesota News Network) — Guards Nick Janowski and Nolan Minessale powered St. Thomas men’s basketball to a historic road win Wednesday night, combining for 49 points to lead the Tommies past South Dakota State in Brookings, S.D., for the program’s first Division I-era victory at First Bank & Trust Arena. The Tommies (19-6, 8-2 Summit League) handed the Jackrabbits (11-13, 4-5 Summit League) their largest home loss since 2008 to complete a regular season series sweep. Meanwhile, it wasn’t so great for the women at home against the Jackrabbits. The Tommies hosted South Dakota State University in Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, the Jackrabbits first trip to St. Thomas’ new home. While the first half was defined by a defensive battle, the Tommies were unable to upend the Summit League powerhouse, falling by a final score of 84-51. With the loss, St. Thomas is now 10-13 overall and 3-6 in Summit League play.
