Statewide Campaign Focuses on Car Seat Safety and Seatbelt Use

(St. Paul, MN) — A statewide child passenger safety and seat belt extra enforcement campaign is going on this week across Minnesota. State Patrol Chief Christina Bogojevic says every fatal crash caused by not using a seatbelt or properly installed car seat is preventable. She says there will be extra law enforcement out to make sure people are properly wearing seatbelts and also have their child car seats installed properly. In 2024, preliminary figures show 477 traffic fatalities in Minnesota, and of those 106 were not wearing a seat belt. The overall seat belt use rate reached an all-time high in 2025 of 95.2 percent in Minnesota.
