Suspect Arrested After Standoff in Olivia

A suspect was arrested after a standoff in Olivia Wednesday afternoon.

At just after 12:30, the Renville County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call from a 22-year-old man reporting he had been chased by a 26-year-old man armed with a knife.

Olivia Police say the suspect subsequently retreated into a residence located in the 600 block of East Maple Avenue and multiple law enforcement agencies were called in.

The Brown Lyon Redwood Renville Emergency Response Team began negotiations and at about 3:30pm, the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
