Suspect Charged in Brown County Double Homicide
A 45-year-old man believed to have killed two people in Brown County early Sunday morning has been charged with second-degree murder.
KSTP reports the Brown County Sheriff’s Office says Randy Thomas Zimmerman of Courtland was arrested in Iowa in connection with the murders and made his first court appearance there on Monday and is awaiting extradition back to Minnesota.
On Sunday morning, a 13-year-old boy called 911 and said that Zimmerman, his mother’s ex-boyfriend, had broken into their home in Hanska and shot his mother. When they got to the scene, authorities found two people deceased from gunshot wounds.
The sheriff’s office identified the victims as 32-year-old Tabitha Leigh Trescott of New Ulm and 50-year-old Justin Paul Reinarts of Hanska.
