The Morris City Council will meet at a special time this week
The Morris City Council will meet at a special time and place for their regular meeting this week: 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Morris Area High School. There will be Citizen’s Comments from Ben Schierer of West Central Initiative, and a report from the U of M Morris Student Trip to Germany. Also on the agenda are resolutions ordering the repair or removal of hazardous conditions located at both 109 West 7th Street, and 107 West 9th Street; and resolutions approving a Credit Card Use Policy and a Purchasing Policy. *** The Morris School Board will meet 5:30 p.m. tonight in the Morris Area High School Media Center. On the agenda: a motion to approve a three-year leave of absence to Elementary Teacher Emily Garcia, as recommended by the Personnel Committee; a motion to approve the 2025-26 Minnesota Healthcare Consortium Insurance Renewal with Midwest Health Benefit as the agent; and a motion to approve a resolution on proposing placement of Continuing Contract Teacher Mike Odello on Unrequested Leave of Absence.
There will also be a motion to approve the resolution reducing and discontinuing educational programs and positions to reduce the budget by $383,630. Included on the chopping block: reduce Grades 5 and 6 to three sections; eliminate the cheerleading program; eliminate the strength coach; discontinue both boys and girls hockey funding; reduce the Elementary secretary’s time; and reduce two football assistant coaches.
