Thielen, Ham officially bid farewell

(Eagan, MN/Minnesota News Network) — Two longtime fan favorites for the Minnesota Vikings bid farewell to the team yesterday. Wide receiver Adam Thielen and fullback C-J Ham had previously announced their retirement from the N-F-L, but yesterday held a joint news conference to talk about their decisions and to thank their families and the fans for the impact each had on their careers. Thielen, who grew up in Detroit Lakes and became one of the league’s best undrafted success stories, said the decision was emotional but the right move for his family. He thanked the Vikings organization for giving him what he called “a chance no one else would have,” and said he’s proud of the legacy he leaves behind both on and off the field. Ham, a Duluth native who carved out a role as one of the N-F-L’s most reliable fullbacks, reflected on his nine-year career. He said he never imagined he’d last this long in the league and credited his teammates, coaches, and Minnesota fans for supporting him every step of the way. Both players emphasized their gratitude to the state of Minnesota, saying the community shaped them as athletes and as people. While neither outlined specific next steps, each said they plan to stay connected to the game and to the region that raised them. The Vikings released statements praising both men for their leadership, work ethic, and impact in the locker room.
