Tiger Gameday – Week 3

Tiger Gameday – Week 3

Last Game: Becker 42 Hutchinson 6

Game Recap: That was a game to forget and quickly turn the page on. No facet of the game was stellar for Hutchinson. Jack Maiers had the lone Touchdown for Hutch in the second half, and Broden DeMere had a sack in the game if you’re looking for bright spots.

Current Record: 1-1

This Week’s Opponent: Rocori (1-1)

About the Opponent: Another week, another tough team. Rocori has been consistently good year in and year out. This year is a bit different look with a Pass first look offensively….more on that below. They’ve had just as tough of schedule as Hutch to start the season, playing Totino Grace and Marshall. This is just as key a game to Rocori as it is Hutch this week.

Key Hutch Players: Offensive Line. The Offense has shown some good, some not so good in the first two weeks. But to consistently get to where Hutch wants to be, this Offensive Line needs to push some people out of the way. Again, they’ve shown that ability at times this season. There have been some really good drives. But then there have also been way to many 3 and outs as well. Start to gel, Start to show some consistency and things will turn around for this group!

4 Downs/Storylines:
First Down: Slow down the Rocori Passing attack. According to people I trust, Rocori threw the ball for 48 STRAIGHT Offensive Plays in their win vs Totino Grace. Yes I typed that correctly. Empty backfield and 5 Wides will be a formation you see a bunch. But there those 5 receivers are aren’t. They move around in different formations. It’s going to put a heavy task on the Hutch DB’s to slow them down. Last week Marshall Incercepted 4 passes which helped to slow them down. Can the Defense get some takeaways?
Second Down: Let’s Fire up the Grill! So there will be opportunities to sack the QB tonight, which John and I would LOVE to give away some burgers. Sacks will most definitely help out the DB’s tough job tonight. BUT be careful when you rush, the QB has some scramble ability to him. Plus, Rocori has been known to throw some screens out there, which are also Rush busters.
Third Down: Gotta score some points. The Offense has looked herky jerky the first few weeks. The talent is there, but with so many new starters it’s taken time to gel. Can they cut down on some of the mistakes? Penalties? Dropped Passes? If they cut down the mistakes this offense could take off.
4
th Down/Quick Hit Keys: Haven’t touched on the Special Teams yet, but giving up 2 SPT TD’s last week can’t happen again…Look for Rocori to try some quick strikes, deep strikes…Graydon Rostberg started to run the ball a bit more last week. Will that keep happening?
