Tiger Gameday – Week 7
Tiger Gameday – Week 7
Last Game: Hutchinson 40 Detroit Lakes 7
Game Recap: Hutch had their most complete game of the season last week. Offense, Defense, and Special Teams all had a hand in that win. Kyle Bell ran for over 250 yards and 2 TD’s…Landon Teetzel had 2 Rushing TD’s, 1 Receiving TD, and Picked off 2 passes on Defense. For the first time this season Hutch garnered over 400 yards of total offense, while holding DL to around 200 yards of Offense.
Current Record: 2-4
This Week’s Opponent: Totino Grace (4-2)
About the Opponent: A slow 0-2 start for TG has given way to 4 straight wins, including one over Defending State Champion Becker last week. This is a team that can do a little bit of everything well. They have a nice power running game, they have speed for the outside and on defense, Can tackle well and break tackles. There aren’t many weaknesses here. To beat them, you have to out play them. They won’t beat themselves.
Key Hutch Players: Offensive Line. I feel very confident in saying there will be no big long 40+ yard runs by Hutch in this game. TG’s speed and pursuit is just too good. BUT…what you can do is open consistent holes against them. Keep getting a steady 4-5 yards (or more) against them. Long Tiger drives will be key as I don’t think you’ll see the 1 or 2 play drives at all in this game.
4 Downs/Storylines:
First Down: Tackle well. This TG offense is very good in the run and the pass. They have speed and power. That makes it tough to defend. It also means that Players will have to execute their assignments well. Be in the correct position, identify the ball carrier, and make the tackle. There will be fakes….Some RPO like things. Be ready for anything
Second Down: Keep TG under 30. If you can get Totino Grace to punt a few times that would be a big win. You’ll be in the game if you can keep them under 30. If TG runs up and down the field, then it’s going to be a long night. Bend but don’t break is a phrase we’ve said a lot….it’ll be very important tonight.
Third Down: Turnovers. Hutch was a +3 in the Turnover battle last week. With two of those TO’s coming deep in DL’s end. Hutch cashed in for points on 3 of the 4 turnovers they got last week. It’s not Rocket Science. The team that wins the TO Battle usually wins.
4th Down/Quick Hit Keys: Last home game for the Regular Season tonight…Hutch worked the Screens and play action game well last week. Can we see more tonight?…This is the 4th meeting for Hutch and TG in the last 3 years. Hutch is 2-1 in the previous three meetings. 2023 Regular Season: Hutch 20 TG 3, 2023 State Tournament: Hutch 44 TG 12, 2024 Regular Season: TG 21 Hutch 20.
